It amounts to "beans in spicy tomato sauce" but look, brains are not for storing information, even if it's not very much information.

Ingredience

  • Veg (technically optional but a good idea if you're not too wiped out like I usually am) consisting of
    • Chilis obviously!
    • Onions
    • Anything you've got lying around like carrots and celery and cauliflower and feel like using up
  • Crushed tomatoes, 2 large can/4 small cans
    • Diced tomatoes and tomato puree also work (they are waterier)
  • THREE OR FOUR CANS OF BEANS. THAT'S THE SECRET.
    • If you prefer dried beans, 3 cups of dried beans is equivalent. You will need to make up the water (see above wrt tomato puree for an obvious method) and salt (salt). It's a really good idea to soak the beans overnight first but you can skip that by... idk google it, I don't do that I just know it can be done. Probably involves hot liquid and a few hours.
  • If you wanna add meat you can add meat but you really don't have to and if you're in the USA you can probably do with less meat in your diet anyway
    • Any other protein makes a substitute for meat if you wanna. Though beans have some protein in em too.
  • Spices
    • Anything you like basically works, but the usual is something like cumin, smoked paprika (or some other dried smoked chili), oregano, garlic powder, cayenne pepper if you want heat. But like anything works if you think it'll taste good.
  • Dark chocolate
    • Look, chocolate is the same. Just buy some dark chips from the bakery aisle.

Steps

  1. Fry up the veg in some oil until it's soft. If you want to slow-cook the chili, use a pan and dump the veg in the slow cooker pot when it's done, or if you're cooking the whole batch in a pot just use that pot.
  2. Same with the meat or substitute if you're using that.
  3. Pour the tomato and bean and spices into the pot and cook 'em for like half an hour (canned beans in a pot) or an hour or two (dried beans in a pot) or all damn day (slow cooker)
  4. Chili's whole thing is being pretty easy, y'know
